Google Summer of Code (GSoC) 2018

Hi,

GSoC 2018 has been announced, and we could apply as a mentoring organization. I suggest we give it a try, if at least 2-3 members of the community are willing to join. Here’s a list of what we need:

  • 2 admins that do the paperwork (I can be one of them)
  • 2-3 mentors, depending on the number of students we ask for
  • an update of Missing Features - LanguageTool Wiki, with ideas of tasks that might be suitable for GSoC (i.e. not small TODOs, but tasks that take 2-3 months)

Who would like to join as an admin or mentor? If we get accepted, being a mentor requires a few hours of work per week, for 3 months.

Thanks. I think one can be both. To be sure we have two admins, I’ll add you as an admin. You should get an invitation from Google.

Everyone please have a look at Missing Features - LanguageTool Wiki and update and extend it, especially with longer-term tasks that a student could work on in 3 months.
